On February 2, 2016, Comptroller Peter Franchot announced that, effective immediately, he has suspended processing of electronic and paper tax returns from sixteen tax preparation service franchise locations and three other private tax return preparers due to “a high volume of questionable returns received”.  This announcement will affect not only the tax preparation services that filed the alleged “questionable returns” but also numerous Maryland taxpayers who used, or will use, their services.

If you have been adversely affected by the above actions, you should contact a tax professional to evaluate your options.  For a consultation, please  contact Giovanni Alberotanza at galberotanza@rosenbergmartin.com or 410.649.4990.
